We are well into spring, however we tend to forget about our boilers and heating as we enjoy the sunny days outdoors and fill our faces with Easter eggs. Whilst it is great to enjoy that extra income from low energy bills for the next few months, we need to stay prepared when it comes to colder weather fronts during Spring.
We’ve put together some handy tips to spring clean your boiler and make sure you’re prepared come rain or shine. Here’s how you can spring-clean your boiler and heating to ensure you’re prepared for whatever the British weather has in store.
Adjust your heating timers.
If you made adjustments to your timers over winter, it’s a good idea to check the heating still only comes on when you need it to – particularly now the clocks have gone forward. By regularly reviewing and adjusting these settings you can make additional savings.
Turn off individual radiators.
We often forget about rooms we don’t use on a regular basis so make sure you aren’t wasting money heating them up. You should also check the radiator temperatures in your main rooms if these were set higher during the winter freeze.
Get your boiler serviced.
Regular servicing should always be done to ensure that your boiler is safe, running efficiently and isn’t going to break down when you need it most.
The spring is always a great time to service your boiler as it’s just after winter, which is usually when you will have had it working its hardest to heat your home.
A boiler service is not a quick job however regular servicing will make your boiler last longer and work more efficiently – the engineer will want to inspect and clean the boiler thoroughly to discover if there are any underlying issues or damaged components that require a repair.
